Description

Celecoxib is used to treat signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritits in adults and osteoarthritis. It also acts to relieve acute pain, dysmenorrhea and discomfort. For persons with colon polyps. Celecoxib is also used to decrease growth of polyps by blocking enzymes in the body that makes prostaglandin. Decrease in the production of prostaglandin helps to reduce pain and inflammation.

How To Take

As directed by the doctor, it is taken by mouth usually once or twice daily. Celecoxib is best taken with food to decrease gastrointestinal upset. Take this medication with a full glass of water unless contraindicated by the doctor. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this medication. In some conditions it may take weeks before desired effect is achieved. This medicine works best when used when the first sign of pain occur, if taken when pain has worsened Celecoxib may not work to its preferred result. Precaution

Doctor should be informed if patient has allergies and past medical history of kidney, liver and heart problems. Avoid the use of alcohol and tobacco when taking Celecoxib that may increase the risk of stomach bleeding. This medication should be used during the 1st six months of pregnancy if extremely needed and discontinued during the last trimester of pregnancy. When mother is breastfeeding it is not recommended to use this drug. Consult doctor before breastfeeding.
