Description

Tetracycline is used for many different infections including bacterial infections, respiratory tract infection (caused by Hemophilus influenzae. Streptococcus pneumoniae, or Mycoplasma pneumoniae), urinary and genital infections, skin infections, and stomach ulcers (caused by Helicobacter pylori). It is also used as an alternative to other medications for the treatment and prevention of anthrax,. This medication may be prescribed for other uses, ask the doctor for more information.

How To Take

Tetracycline is a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually prescribed by the doctor to be taken 2 to 4 times daily on a empty stomach. Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water. Never take tetracycline with food especially with cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt and other dairy products. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Precaution

Before taking Tetracycline, inform the doctor of allergies to tetracycline and other medications. Also tell the doctor the other medications that patient are currently taking including vitamins, supplements, antacids, anti coagulant and herbal products. Tetracycline can decrease the effectiveness of these medications. It is not advisable to give tetracycline to pregnant women as it can harm the fetus. For prolonged exposure to the sun, it is advisable to wear protective clothing and gear; this drug can make skin sensitive to sunlight.
