Description

Tretiva is used to treat severe, disfiguring nodular acne. It should be used only after other acne medicines have been tried and have failed to help the acne. Tretiva may also be used to treat other skin diseases as determined by your doctor. Tretiva must not be used to treat women who are able to bear children unless other forms of treatment have been tried first and have failed. Tretiva must not be taken during pregnancy because it causes birth defects in humans. If you are able to bear children, it is very important that you read, understand, and follow the pregnancy warnings for isotretinoin.

How To Take

Use Tretiva as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Tretiva comes with an extra patient information sheet called a Medication Guide. Read it carefully. Swallow the capsule with a full glass of water or other liquid. Do not break, crush, chew, or suck on the capsule before swallowing. This will help prevent the medication inside the capsule from irritating your throat. For best results, take Tretiva regularly. Taking Tretiva at the same time each day will help you remember to take it. . If you miss a dose of Tretiva, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Precaution

You have been prescribed Tretiva 10 mg Soft Gelatin Capsule for the treatment of severe acne. Take it with or after food. Avoid exposure to sunlight while using Tretiva 10 mg Soft Gelatin Capsule. Use protective measures such as sun-cream or protective clothing. It may cause dryness of mouth, lips, and eyes. Drink plenty of water, use moisturiser and avoid wearing contact lenses. Inform your doctor if it bothers you. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how Tretiva 10 mg Soft Gelatin Capsule affects you. Your doctor may get regular blood tests to track lipid levels, liver function, and cell count in your blood. Do not take Tretiva 10 mg Soft Gelatin Capsule if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
